i'm a baker, people. there. i said. it. nothing crazy. in order to bring a little extra money now and then, i bake/decorate cakes for people (well, it's not just me. not so surprisingly, my sisters and i do it together). and i do say a little extra money because that's all it really is. after paying for ingredients (we definitely don't do enough business-by choice-to warrant buying in bulk) and calculating my time, i probably end up making $4/hour. but i do it because i love it.
especially when it's for people who are just so loving. and when i have a little help.
i love that moses had to be there to help the process along, too. i should note that these were all her tester cupcakes. none of those were given out to people (she likes to lick her work...teehee. i freaking love this girl!).
this morning i was busy making cuppies for a some family friends. i've known this family since i can remember. they're just good people. and they're celebrating all of their grandkids' birthdays tomorrow. one huge party.
my friend requested that the birthday boys and girls get their own,
texas-sized cupcake, piled high with frosting. i was more than happy to
oblige. here are a few of many that i dropped off at her house this
morning.
*the white cupcake is for a baby they lost this past year. my hands were trembling as i made his little banner. i wanted it to be perfect. i cannot even imagine what they have gone through. you know, honestly, things have been super hectic and stressful these past few months. but as i made his little cupcake and his little banner, i was reminded that i need to be thankful for all of the awesome moments (yes, even the tantrums-in-the-middle-of-target ones) that i get each day.
and on that note. i might go eat a cupcake. (at this time, please don't remind me that i'm still technically trying to lose weight...dang you, holidays!!!)
things i've learned:
1. baking with the lady *might have increased my baking/decorating time by a thousand. sometimes i'm really fine with this.
2. baking. and losing weight. not the healthiest combos. back on the wagon first thing tomorrow. *le grand sigh!
